New World Heritage Sites Added to UNESCO List

  • A list of the sites added at at UNESCO’s 2013 annual meeting.  The early modern sites are:  Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, Kassel, Germany; Medici Villas and Gardens, Tuscany, Italy; Red Bay Basque Whaling Station, Canada; University of Coimbra, Portugal; Wooden Tserkvas of the Carpathian Region, Poland and Ukraine.  There was also an extension of the previously listed Wieliczka and Bochnia Royal Salt Mines in Poland.  Further photographs and news are available at the link to each site.
